Character designs

These were done a while ago, and they were part of 3 posters that were done together with my talented designer friend Artemis Tsagari . It took me some time to upload, because I wanted to do some adjustments for the first design. Hope you dig! :)

Girls, girls, girls

I'm alive!

Sorry for the lack of posts, it's due to laziness i admit it... I think this post will make the guys that visit this blog happy (i hope)!

So, news so far... Internship at Cartoon Saloon was awesome, people there are very friendly! I was lucky enough to work on Song of The Sea!
I recently came back to Greece and i worked a bit on another project that the studio is working on, which is called "The Prophet". It's also looking beautiful, but unfortunately i can't show anything, so you'll have to wait.
Now i'm doing my own stuff and preparing for the next gig.

Recently, i've been studying Masters of Anatomy and today i got on a girl-drawing spree.I should be doing animations for my portfolio instead...
Tried a variety of styles. First 3 drawings are from playmate Raquel Pomplun. The other ones, in order of appearance are Greek tv persona Elena Papavasileiou and dancer Maria Antimisari. Not that you'll find any likeness, but just mentioning the inspiration.
Apologizing for the crappy image quality from my scanner, drawings are losing a lot and i probably have to make a digital pass if i wanna put the in my portfolio..

Sacheen Littlefeather

Here's a small story that inspired me to draw this page, yesterday:

Marlon Brando won an Oscar for his performance in Godfather in 1973. Instead of appearing at the ceremony himself to receive the award, Sacheen Littlefeather represented him and instead of accepting the Oscar, she gave a small speech. This way Brando protested against the treatment of Native Americans by the film industry.
Whether or not this is the real reason behind his not accepting the Oscar, what this girl (who was/is actually a civil rights activistdid can only be admired. Imagine a Native American giving a speech in front of an audience full of whites...

I used traditional media (pencils and markers) and had some (not so) happy accidents with Brando's face. Came out too...burnt :D

Side note: I always heard that Brando was a great actor, but i never got to see films from his young age. Here's a great piece of acting that i discovered recently from The Wild One. I don't remember seeing anything like it before:

Greece i miss you...

I'm feeling blues

(The one and only) Nina Simone and Lianne La Havas.

I was inspired by this awesome dude to do those.
The second one doesn't really look like her, but she was the inspiration for the sketch anyways. You can listen to these while you look at the sketches:

We lost the body, comrade! (aka. Kim Kardashian)

You might find it hard to see, but YES, this is Kim Kardashian. She looked more like her, before painting it. I'm no particular fan of her, but i saw a photo of her the other day, and i got inspired to do a curvy sketch of her.

There are still issues that i'm not happy with, but at some point after realizing those, there was no return, since i drew it traditionally.

Inspired by Fred Moore and Chris Sanders. I hope you enjoy:

For those who wonder what the heck i'm talking about with the title of this post, well it's a greek expression :D

Sexy girl

Got excited with this one!! I didn't expect it to turn out so well, since it started as an experiment mostly. On the process, i decided to try out watercolor pencils, but due to its small scale, i didn't have much room for details. So i did some small retouches on the computer.

I hope you like it:

Spartan warrior

I did this sketch a while ago, but i've been doing several tweakings, so i couldn't scan it yet. But now, i called it finished, so here is my Spartan warrior:

Maybe i'll color him at some point.

Fairies etc.

A friend of mine asked me to draw a fairy as a decoration for a website. Not my usual, everyday drawing theme. Actually, it's my first time drawing a fairy.
I enjoyed making her, tho:

Character design for Escape

As i promised before, this is the character i designed for the Escape short film project.

He's a split personality, a writer originally, who's closed to a mental institution, after a severe breakdown he experienced. The reason for that was that he was driving drunk with his family, and they had a crash. Everybody died except from him, and he feels responsible for the death of his family members.

TDA - Week 9 - Portfolio week 2

*Update Sunday*

Some croquis from Thursday that i scanned today. The first two were made with charcoal and went crazy again! Actually, i kinda like the outcome, and i'm thinking of adding color to them at some point. The rest were made with a pen:

Some sh*t i've been doing this week for my portfolio:
